This electric salt and pepper grinder pairs a natural bamboo body with the convenience of a button-operated mill. Press the silver button on top and it grinds; release it and it stops — one hand is enough, so the other hand stays on the tongs. A small LED lights the spot where the pepper lands, which matters more than it sounds: it stops you overshooting the plate and it lets you see the fill level through the clear window without turning on the kitchen light. The body is bamboo with a visible vertical grain, the lower section is brushed stainless steel, and the pair is finished to sit on a table rather than hide in a cupboard.

HOW TO USE

1. Remove the top cap and fill the chamber with whole peppercorns, or with rock salt for the second mill. Refit the cap.
2. Hold the mill over your plate or pan and press the silver button on top — the LED lights up and the grinder runs.
3. Release the button to stop the grind.
4. Wipe the body with a damp cloth and dry it straight away. Do not soak the bamboo body or put it in a dishwasher.
